Description
Students who elect to study abroad in Doha with API at Qatar University (QU) choose from courses in the science, engineering, and sports management fields open to international and Qatari students through the Direct Enrollment Track. Semester and academic year students who choose this option are able to select from a variety of courses on offer at QU in English, and have the option of taking an Arabic language class as well. Academic year students selecting this track may also elect to begin their summer/fall studies in Seville and/or London prior to a spring semester in Doha.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR AND FALL PROGRAM
The academic calendar in Qatar is slightly different from that of most U.S. universities. The fall semester at Qatar University starts later than the average fall semester in the United States, and as such, the fall semester does not end until late January. Classes are held throughout the month of January, followed by final exams.
ORIENTATION PERIOD
Students in Doha arrive one to two weeks prior to the start of classes to participate in a comprehensive orientation program. During the orientation program, students participate in sessions related to cultural adaptation, housing and gender norms, academics, transportation, and safety issues in their new host country, as well as begin the course registration process on-site.
Advanced/native speakers have additional course options.
